Hokkaido is the the northernmost island. It’s the biggest prefecture in Japan. ‘Ainu’ is the indigenous people who has own culture in living way and language, etc.
I’ve been to the island two times in winter, once in summer, and once in autumn. Every season we can enjoy with sightseeing, activities, and foods. They have hot springs, too. These days, many foreign people visit their and some purchase the real estates because of this attractive island.
In winter we ski on the powder snow. There are lots of skiing resorts. In summer we mountaineer and enjoy the BBQ outdoor. They keep millions of cows and sheep in many farming yards. In autumn we have a chance to taste products of sea and land, as king crabs, oysters, salmon, sea urchins, … potato, corns, ‘beer & lamb’… They have lots of scenic beauty points. Also there are several national parks where special animals are living. ‘Shiretoko’ is one of the World Nature Heritages.
Cranes, swans, and gees fly to Japan from Siberia (Rassia) in winter time. Crane is the crest of Japan Airlines. Hunters hunt gees at the hunting area, but never cranes and swans.
In a fish market, we can try very fresh sea foods in front them. Fresh and reasonable ‘Donburi’ (Rice Bowl)
